The surface of the concrete ramp had become damaged due to impact from the gas cylinders when being loaded and unloaded, even though they are dropped onto a rubber mat. The uneven surface was making it increasingly difficult for the tall narrow cylinders to stand up safely. The application was completed in accordance with Belzona Know-How System Leaflet FPA-1. The concrete ramp was pressure washed to remove surface contamination before the Belzona 4131 system was applied to the ramp.

This is a common problem on many gas distribution sites across the UK. Belzona was selected firstly for its ability to protect against impact and abrasion. Secondly for being impermeable and resistant to frost damage. After nine years of constant loading and unloading of gas cylinders the loading bay has been revisited in May 2021 and was found to be in excellent condition. The client is very impressed with the Belzona solution provided and has since implemented a variety other successful Belzona applications across their UK sites.
